I'm going to interrupt this home hunt for a moment. Between the looting, raping, and shooting in the wake of Katrina and the anniversary of Beslan, I have found myself in near-tears much of the day.

Here's a short video collage I put together detailing the Katrina devastation, in hopes of rallying even more fundraising support.

United is offering airline miles if you send them proof of a donation to the American Red Cross.

I've been down, too. Super down. The world is one depressing place!!
I'm so thankful for my little piece of heaven. It keeps me sane, somehow.

I know how you feel. I've been grieving as though I've lost a family member.

Thank you for the information. The situation is just too stunningly awful to comprehend. I have to say though, that I find it outrageous that the red cross needs airline miles to fly their volunteers in. I don't care how bankrupt the airlines are, they should be flying anyone who can help in. Anyone. Particularly since they cancelled flights a full 36 hours before Katrina hit, stranding thousands of tourists, just because they didn't want to fly empty planes in to NO to get people out. Sorry to use your blog as a venting zone, but I find this airline fiasco outrageous. As is the entire unbelievable slow aide response.

No, it's OK
I am APPALLED at how long it has taken for aid to get where it is needed!!!!!
I am also furious, deeply furious, at the level of anarachy people have sunk to.
But not so upset at airlines, who I am sure DO do a lot and probably more than the donated miles - one of my family is a commercial pilot and he once told me that there are "charity seats" on every flight.
