Where in the world is CorporateMommy?

First of all, I do have several new posts at Chicago Moms Blog already published or in the queue to be published soon. Please visit!

Second, after more than 5 years - this blog will be closing down. The reasons are many, and I will write about them soon. I will be porting many of the archives over to a new site that we're launching so please stay tuned

Last, and most importantly, I DO micro-post both on Facebook and Twitter and hope you'll join me there. I miss you, too...

7 I can't remember how or when I found you. What I remember is the sense of connection to another woman duking it out in the IT world of projects. I started reading and I couldn't stop. I have laughed with you, cried with you and followed your life for many years. I have sent you two personal emails when I thought your life had hit a particularly tough patch. You have guided me in some difficult times... Remembering a post of yours I had the courage to stand up in a meeting of 60 telco execs in a New York board room as the only Australian, only female and youngest member of the room by 10 years and explain to a board why the proposed solution wasn't going to work and detailing the IT component I had built the year before that meant the expectations of the Utah team were wrong. (Do you remember the one it ends with you getting in a mini van with bear and CJ and driving off). Remembering a post of yours I resigned a job I hated and changed my life down a gear knowing I wasn't going to die but also that life would never be the same. Remembering a post of yours I stood at my kitchen bench, soup steaming on the stove and inhaled and appreciated my life and my good fortune - you helped me get better at being in the moment. ...should I know you? Not really. I live thousands of miles away and there are no reasons in reality that our lives should have ever crossed paths. ...Do I feel like I know you? Well enough that if you said you were coming to Melbourne you would be staying with me, driving my car and meeting my friends and family! I care about your life and I care about YOU. I was thinking this morning what if you had never blogged, what if I hadn't "met" you and Clarence's line in "It's a Wonderful Life" came to mind: "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?" Thankyou for sharing your life with us Elizabeth... my life has been richer because you did.
